Description
The Odyssey GRS Derived Neutron Data (DND) dataset includes prism counting rates, normalizations, corrections, and thermal, epithermal, and fast neutron counting rates derived from neutron data collected by the Neutron Spectrometer of the Odyssey GRS instrument suite. It was produced by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration. The dataset was last updated on March 13, 2026.
Use Cases
Modeling Martian surface composition based on derived neutron counting rates.
Analyzing subsurface hydrogen distribution based on thermal and epithermal neutron data.
Calibrating neutron spectrometer instruments based on normalization and correction factors.
Studying planetary geology based on neutron flux variations.
Strengths
Data is derived from the Neutron Spectrometer instrument suite on the Odyssey orbiter.
Includes multiple derived neutron counting rates: thermal, epithermal, and fast.
Limitations
Description metadata is limited; actual data quality requires manual inspection after download.
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
