Description
The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Agribusiness created an Economic Impact Summary from business, agri-food, and farm data profiles. It contains statistical data such as the number of farms, farm cash receipts, GDP, and employment throughout Ontario's agri-food value chain. The data is broken down for each region (Central, Eastern, Western, Southern, Northern Ontario) and each county within those regions.
Use Cases
Compare regional agricultural productivity based on farm cash receipts and GDP.
Analyze farm operator density and land use based on number of farms and total farm area.
Model employment distribution within the agri-food value chain based on employment data.
Assess business concentration in the agri-food sector based on number of agri-food businesses.
Strengths
Data is structured by region and county, providing granular geographic analysis.
Includes multiple economic indicators (GDP, employment, cash receipts) for the agri-food chain.
Published by the Government of Ontario, suggesting official data collection.
