Orpheus Island rainfall data collected by the Great Barrier Reef Wireless Sensor Network from December 2002 to September 2017. The data was gathered by the Wireless Sensor Networks Facility, part of the Great Barrier Reef Ocean Observing System project under the Australian Integrated Marine Observing System. It is hosted by the Australian Ocean Data Network.
Use Cases
- Analyze long-term rainfall trends based on the 15-year time range
- Correlate precipitation with marine ecosystem health based on the Great Barrier Reef location
- Validate climate models using sensor network data from the IMOS project
Strengths
- Covers a 15-year period from December 2002 to September 2017
- Data originates from the authoritative Integrated Marine Observing System (IMOS) project
Limitations
- Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download
- Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment
