Description
A 2018-2022 study of dust dynamics in Khuzestan Province, Iran, using satellite-derived Aerosol Optical Depth (AOD) and Aerosol Absorption Index (AAI), ground-based PM₂.₅ and PM₁₀ data, and HYSPLIT trajectory modeling. The dataset was created by Alireza Yousefi Kebriya and last updated on 2026-05-07. It includes correlations between AOD and PM levels, trajectory clustering identifying six major dust pathways, and analysis linking wetland shrinkage to dust events.
Use Cases
Validate satellite-derived AOD against ground-based PM₂.₅ and PM₁₀ measurements based on the strong correlations (R²=0.79-0.91) described.
Model dust transport pathways and identify source regions based on the HYSPLIT trajectory clustering and WPSCF/WCWT mapping mentioned.
Assess the impact of wetland area and water level changes on local dust suppression based on the described correlations and hydrological-air quality states.
Strengths
Includes multi-year temporal coverage from 2018 to 2022.
Integrates multiple data sources: satellite AOD/AAI, ground PM measurements, HYSPLIT modeling, and wetland assessments.
Reports strong quantitative correlations, such as R²=0.78 between wetland area and AOD.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
The dataset is very small (1.4 KB), suggesting it may contain summary statistics or a description rather than raw observational data.
