Description
China's high-tech innovation landscape is analyzed through over 39,000 Web of Science publications and nearly 10,000 patent records from 2016 to 2025. The data covers Wuhan, Chengdu, Hangzhou, and Tianjin across AI, fiber-optic communication, intelligent vehicles, and storage chips. Author Hua Song compiled this dataset, last updated in May 2026, using bibliometric analysis and LLM-assisted semantic interpretation.
Use Cases
Compare urban innovation trajectories based on publication and patent output across four cities
Analyze technological specialization patterns in domains like AI and fiber-optic communication
Map collaboration network structures among actors in regional innovation systems
Benchmark academic output against technological translation using bibliometric and patent data
Strengths
Includes over 39,000 publications and nearly 10,000 patent records, providing substantial textual data
Covers a defined 2016-2025 time range and four specific Chinese cities
Employs an integrated analytical framework combining bibliometrics, network modeling, and LLM-assisted interpretation
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment
The dataset is very small at 9.5 KB, indicating limited scope or highly summarized data
