Description
Freshwater crabs Sinopotamon henanense were exposed to four concentrations of cadmium (0, 14.5, 29, and 58 mg/L) for 4 days. The dataset, published by Jianxia Liu on figshare in April 2026, contains experimental results measuring signaling pathway activation, gene expression, and histological changes in gill tissue.
Use Cases
Modeling the relationship between cadmium concentration and cellular injury markers based on the described exposure levels and histological observations.
Analyzing gene expression patterns for detoxification and heat shock proteins based on the measured levels of CYP450, BAG3, PDI, Hsp21, Hsp27, and Hsp70.
Investigating signaling pathway activation based on measurements of diacylglycerol, inositol-1,4,5-triphosphate, cytoplasmic calcium, and protein kinase C.
Correlating biochemical markers with tissue damage based on described observations of filament swelling, dead epidermal cells, DNA degradation, and ATP decrease.
Strengths
Data is derived from a controlled experiment with four specific cadmium exposure concentrations (0, 14.5, 29, and 58 mg/L).
The study measures multiple biological endpoints, including gene expression, signaling molecules, and histological changes, providing a multi-faceted view of toxicity.
Dataset is openly available under a CC-BY-4.0 license.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
The dataset is very small (35.5 KB), indicating a limited scope likely focused on summary results rather than raw observations.
