Description
15,788 base pairs comprise the complete mitochondrial genome of the sea cucumber Holothuria atra, sequenced and analyzed by Jinjin Wang. The data includes 13 protein-coding genes, 2 rRNAs, 22 tRNAs, 18 non-coding regions, and codon usage frequencies for 20 amino acids. The dataset was last updated on April 17, 2026, and supports genetic evolutionary research in the Kiribati region.
Use Cases
Comparative evolutionary analysis based on shared mitochondrial sequences among 19 Holothuroidea species
Codon usage bias studies based on the frequency data for 61 codons encoding 20 amino acids
Phylogenetic tree construction based on the genetic relationship data indicating closest relation to Holothuria polii
Secondary structure prediction for tRNA based on the 62-72 base pair length data and cloverleaf models
Strengths
Complete mitochondrial genome sequence of 15,788 base pairs with detailed structural annotation
Includes specific quantitative metrics: 59.2% A+T content, amino acid representation from 1.03% (Cys) to 16.58% (Leu)
Comparative evolutionary analysis performed against 19 related species within the Holothuroidea class
Limitations
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download
The dataset is very small at 46.5 KB, indicating limited scope
