64% of the benthic cover across four Yucatan Peninsula reef sites is dominated by macroalgae, with a strong negative correlation (r = -0.754) found between macroalgal abundance and long sediment-laden algal turf. The dataset contains measurements from bathymetric and underwater surveys, including rugosity indices and sediment grain sizes, collected by Ileana Ortegón-Aznar. This is the first reported study of rocky reefs on the Yucatan and Mexican Atlantic coast.
Dataset is provided in XLS format; users will need software capable of reading this format. The 5.5 KB file size suggests it contains summary or aggregated data, not raw survey records.
