Description
11 geographically diverse provenances of Polygonatum cyrtonema were evaluated across three garden sites in Zhejiang Province, China. The dataset contains systematic measurements of growth traits and medicinal components, including polysaccharides, saponins, flavonoids, and total phenolics. Author Shiming Cheng published this 5.5 KB Excel file under a CC-BY-4.0 license in April 2026.
Use Cases
Identify elite breeding materials based on combined growth and medicinal compound scores.
Analyze environmental drivers of saponin and flavonoid content based on geo-climatic factors.
Cluster plant provenances into performance groups based on phenotypic and genotypic variation.
Assess provenance repeatability for selective breeding programs based on high reported coefficients.
Strengths
Data includes 11 distinct provenances evaluated across three heterogeneous environments.
Reports substantial phenotypic (PCV up to 46.89%) and genotypic (GCV up to 44.92%) coefficients of variation.
Shows high provenance repeatability scores ranging from 0.63 to 0.99.
Limitations
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Data is limited to a specific region (Zhejiang Province, China) and one plant species.
