Description
330 observations of panel data from 1990 to 2022 analyze bilateral trade flows between India and ASEAN countries. The dataset includes determinants like GDP, population, tariff rates, distance, historical ties, democracy, trade openness, and globalization. Author Prajakta Arote used Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) and Generalized Least Squares (GLS) estimations to assess the impact of the India-ASEAN Free Trade Agreement.
Use Cases
Estimating gravity model coefficients based on GDP, population, and distance variables
Analyzing the impact of tariff rates on bilateral trade volumes
Evaluating the effect of historical ties like shared colonial history and language on trade
Testing the significance of control variables like trade openness, democracy, and globalization
Assessing the positive effect of the AIFTA dummy variable on trade flows
Strengths
330 observations provide a panel data structure for longitudinal analysis
Data spans 33 years (1990-2022), offering a long-term temporal perspective
Analysis addresses econometric issues like heteroskedasticity and cross-sectional dependency using GLS
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment
The dataset is 9.5 KB, indicating a very limited scope and likely aggregated summary statistics
