Description
The Weigan-Kuqa River Oasis in Xinjiang, China, is the study area for this dataset of model parameters used to estimate soil salinity content (SSC). It contains results from a framework combining multiple spectral transformations and machine learning algorithms, including random forest, support vector machine, gradient boosting decision tree, and deep forest. The dataset was authored by Yanping Guo and last updated on April 30, 2026.
Use Cases
Comparing the performance of different spectral transformations (e.g., R-DWT, (1/R)'-CWT) for soil salinity estimation.
Benchmarking machine learning algorithms (RF, SVM, GBDT, DF) for predicting soil salinity content from hyperspectral data.
Identifying SSC-sensitive spectral bands in regions like 1633 nm, 1809–1810 nm, and 2001–2041 nm for feature engineering.
Reproducing or building upon the R-DWT-H7-DF model, which achieved an R² of 0.87 on the training set.
Strengths
Provides a direct comparison of multiple spectral transformation methods and four machine learning algorithms for a specific task.
The associated research identifies specific SSC-sensitive spectral bands and reports model performance metrics (e.g., R² values up to 0.87).
Dataset is openly shared under a CC-BY-4.0 license, facilitating reuse and verification.
Limitations
The dataset is very small (9.5 KB), suggesting it contains only model parameters or summary results, not the underlying raw or processed spectral data.
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment for certain analyses.
