Description
A dataset from figshare, last updated June 4, 2026, containing transmission data for Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD). It records the average incubation time, in days, for disease onset in GtE and GtQ mice inoculated with infected brain, spleen, and muscle homogenates. The data was contributed by author Joseph P. DeFranco and includes statistical variance expressed as the standard error of the mean.
Use Cases
Compare disease incubation periods based on the source tissue (brain, spleen, muscle) mentioned in the description.
Analyze differences in susceptibility between GtE and GtQ mouse genotypes referenced in the title.
Validate prion disease confirmation methods (RT-QuIC, neurohistopathology, western blot) described in the dataset.
Strengths
Data includes statistical variance (±SEM) for incubation times.
Prion disease confirmation was performed using multiple standard assays (RT-QuIC, neurohistopathology, western blot).
Mice dying of intercurrent illnesses were excluded from calculations, as noted in the description.
Limitations
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
The dataset is very small (9.5 KB), indicating limited scope.
Provenance

Collection Method
Experimental transmission study in mice, with disease confirmed by RT-QuIC, neurohistopathology, and/or western blot.
