A 2011 project by Geoscience Australia produced pre-competitive data for assessing CO2 storage potential in Western Australia's Vlaming Sub-basin. The study maps the distribution and thickness of mudstone facies within the South Perth Shale Supersequence to characterize its sealing capacity. It builds on prior work estimating the formation could hold a CO2 column up to 663 meters.
