Geoscience Australia Data published a palynological report on the S.P.L. No.1 (Birkhead) well. The report is based on an examination of twenty-two samples, chiefly cuttings, and suggests the Permian-Triassic boundary lies between 3600 and 3700 feet. It indicates a marine influence in Upper Permian times and a possibly older unit at 5000 feet, with no age evidence offered for strata above 1900 feet and below 5035 feet.
