Description
Dekadal NDVI indicators for Paraguay aggregated by sub-national administrative units, derived from NASA MODIS collection 6.1 satellite imagery. Produced by the World Food Programme, the data includes 10-day vegetation indices, long-term averages, and percentage anomalies for environmental monitoring.
Use Cases
Detecting agricultural drought by monitoring the `viq` (NDVI anomaly) percentage across different departments
Assessing seasonal vegetation trends by comparing `vim` (10-day NDVI) against `vim_lta` (long-term average)
Validating pixel-level coverage for statistical reliability using the `n_pixels` column
Strengths
Derived from NASA MODIS collection 6.1 high-quality satellite imagery
Includes `vim_lta` (long-term average) for multi-year baseline comparison
Standardized Pcode references for integration with humanitarian data
Limitations
Spatial resolution is limited to administrative unit aggregates rather than raw pixel data
Data quality in the `n_pixels` column may vary based on cloud cover interference with satellite sensors
