Description
Discrete sample and profile data collected from the R/V METEOR in the North Atlantic Ocean, North Greenland Sea, and Norwegian Sea during July and August 1992. The data includes measurements for partial pressure of carbon dioxide, dissolved inorganic carbon, alkalinity, temperature, and salinity, collected using CTD and bottle instruments. It was compiled by researchers from the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization as part of the international CARINA data synthesis project.
Use Cases
Modeling ocean carbon uptake based on partial pressure of carbon dioxide measurements.
Analyzing relationships between dissolved inorganic carbon, alkalinity, and salinity.
Studying seasonal biogeochemical variations in the North Atlantic based on a two-month time series.
Calibrating or validating larger-scale ocean carbon models using discrete, profile-based observations.
Strengths
Data originates from a recognized international scientific collaboration (CARINA project).
Includes multiple key variables for carbon system studies (carbon dioxide, DIC, alkalinity, temperature, salinity).
Provides a focused temporal snapshot from a specific research cruise (06MT19920701).
