Description
Bristol Channel, English Channel, Irish Sea, St. George's Channel, North Atlantic Ocean, and North Sea surface underway data collected from the CEFAS ENDEAVOUR research vessel between September 27 and October 4, 2012. The dataset includes chemical, meteorological, and physical variables such as the partial pressure of carbon dioxide in air and water, salinity, sea surface temperature, and barometric pressure. Data were collected by David J. Pearce and Naomi Greenwood of the Centre for Environment, Fisheries and Aquaculture Science (Cefas) using carbon dioxide gas analyzers and equilibrators.
Use Cases
Modeling air-sea carbon dioxide flux based on partial pressure measurements in air and water.
Analyzing coastal ocean acidification trends based on surface water carbon dioxide data.
Correlating sea surface temperature and salinity with carbon dioxide partial pressure.
Studying short-term variability in marine carbon chemistry based on underway measurements from a research cruise.
Strengths
Data covers a specific 8-day cruise (2012-09-27 to 2012-10-04) providing a temporally bounded snapshot.
Includes multiple related variables (partial pressure of CO2, salinity, SST, barometric pressure) for integrated analysis.
Associated with a specific, documented cruise ID (74E920120927) for traceability.
Limitations
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Data may reflect geographic and temporal bias inherent to a single, short cruise in 2012.
