IDinsight's data from a two-year randomized controlled trial (2023-25) of the Mobilized Communities program implemented by World Bicycle Relief in Zambia. The dataset contains 1,522 household-level observations surveyed at baseline, one-year follow-up, and two-year follow-up. Livelihoods groups and community service workers were randomized to either receive a bicycle or not.
Use Cases
- Evaluate the effect of bicycle provision on household livelihoods based on longitudinal survey data.
- Compare outcomes between treatment and control groups over a two-year period.
- Analyze the impact of transportation access on community service worker effectiveness.
- Study rural development interventions in Sub-Saharan Africa based on RCT methodology.
Strengths
- 1,522 household-level observations provide a substantial sample size.
- Data collected at three points (baseline, 1-year, 2-year) enables longitudinal analysis.
- Randomized controlled trial design supports causal inference.
Limitations
- Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
- Row count is known, but specific variable definitions and data completeness are unknown.
- Data may reflect geographic and temporal bias inherent to the specific program and location.
