Description
93 organic coffee producers from the Tosepan Titataniske cooperative provided perceptions, adaptation ideas, and challenges regarding climate change via surveys, participatory mapping, group discussions, and interviews. Meteorological data spans 32 years for temperature (1992–2023) and 63 years for precipitation (1963–2023) from five stations in the Sierra Norte of Puebla, Mexico. The dataset was authored by Fra Filippo Casadiego-Arévalo and last updated on 2026-05-18.
Use Cases
Analyze alignment between farmer perceptions and meteorological trends based on the computed Severity Index and trend analysis.
Map altitude-specific effects on coffee crops based on participatory mapping and interview data.
Identify key adaptation challenges such as declining production and pest outbreaks based on survey and discussion results.
Evaluate proposed adaptation strategies like agroforestry and variety changes based on farmer proposals.
Strengths
Combines quantitative meteorological data (32-year temperature, 63-year precipitation) with qualitative perceptions from 93 producers.
Employs multiple data collection methods: surveys, participatory mapping, group discussions, and semi-structured interviews.
Focuses on a specific cooperative (Tosepan Titataniske) and region (Sierra Norte de Puebla, Mexico), providing contextual depth.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
Data may reflect geographic and source bias inherent to a single cooperative and region.
