A study from the University of Kuala Lumpur developed a chitosan-polyethylene glycol nanocomposite hydrogel loaded with phomopsidione. The hydrogel released an average of 34 μg/mL of phomopsidione per hour and delivered 67.9% of active ingredients over the study period, showing a 99.99% reduction in microbial growth against Gram-negative bacteria and Candida utilis.
