Description
NOAA Northeast Monitoring Program data contains temperature, salinity, and nutrient measurements from coastal waters. The dataset covers the Chesapeake Bay Mouth, Delaware shelf, Mid-Atlantic, and New York Bights from April 1980 to August 1985. Data was processed by NOAA NODC staff from NOS sources.
Use Cases
Analyze temporal trends in chlorophyll and phaeopigment levels across the New York Bight.
Model relationships between temperature, salinity, and nutrient concentrations in the Chesapeake Bay Mouth.
Compare water quality parameters like salinity and temperature across the Delaware shelf and Mid-Atlantic regions over a five-year period.
Strengths
Data spans over five years from 1980-06-02 to 1985-08-14.
Includes multiple measured parameters: temperature, salinity, nutrients, chlorophyll, and phaeopigments.
Geographic coverage includes four distinct coastal regions.
Limitations
Specific row count, column details, and file formats are unknown.
Data is historical, with the last update in 1985, limiting contemporary analysis.
Potential inconsistencies from collection across several different ships.
Provenance
Source
NOAA National Centers for Environmental Information (NCEI), processed from NOS sources at NODC.
Collection Method
Collected via bottle casts from NOAA Ship ALBATROSS IV and other platforms.
