Description
Digital photogrammetric map data of the Platcha region derived from 1:8000 scale aerial photography taken in January 1998. The dataset includes layers for coast, contour, dyke, lakes, spot heights, and topographic lines, polygons, and surfaces. It was collected by the AU_AADC organization to study the site for a potential wind turbine location and was last updated in August 1999.
Use Cases
Assess terrain suitability for wind turbine placement based on contour and topographic surface data.
Model hydrological features and drainage for site planning using lake and dyke layers.
Create elevation models and visualizations for the Platcha region using spot height and contour data.
Analyze coastal boundaries and landforms for environmental impact studies using the coast layer.
Strengths
Includes multiple structured data layers (coast, contour, dyke, lakes, spot_ht, topoline, topopoly, toposurf).
Based on high-resolution 1:8000 scale aerial photography.
Has a specific, documented purpose for wind energy site assessment.
Limitations
Last updated 1999-08-28 23:59:59.999000; freshness should be verified.
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count and file formats are unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
