Description
Over 1.7 million taxi trajectories recorded in Porto, Portugal, between July 1, 2013, and June 30, 2014. The dataset was created by Luigi Libero Lucio Starace and is derived from the 'Taxi Service Trajectory - Prediction Challenge, ECML PKDD 2015 Data Set'. Each row contains taxi and trajectory identifiers, a trip start timestamp, and GPS coordinates for the origin and destination points.
Use Cases
Predicting taxi trip destinations based on origin and start time.
Analyzing urban traffic flow patterns based on GPS trajectory data.
Modeling taxi demand over time and space using timestamp and location data.
Studying driver behavior and route efficiency using origin-destination pairs.
Strengths
Contains 1,710,671 individual taxi trajectories, providing substantial volume for analysis.
Covers a full year of data (July 2013 to June 2014), allowing for seasonal trend analysis.
Includes precise GPS coordinates for trip origins and destinations using the EPSG:4326 coordinate system.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Last update date is unknown; freshness unverified.
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
