Description
Data from 2017 to 2020 captures post-fire geologic hazards at sites affected by the 2020 Holiday Farm, 2020 Archie Creek, and 2017 Eagle Creek Fires in western Oregon. The dataset contains high-resolution point cloud data acquired via terrestrial laser scanning and structure-from-motion from drone imagery. It was authored by Adam Booth and last updated in February 2025.
Use Cases
Characterizing debris flow and rockfall hazard based on perishable data captured 1-2 months after fires.
Mapping debris flow runout tracks and deposit extents based on UAS data from sites like Dodson.
Analyzing topographic changes over time based on repeat survey data from burned forest and road areas.
Modeling post-fire landslide risk based on high-resolution LiDAR and point cloud data from specific creek and rock sites.
Strengths
Contains high-resolution point cloud data for detailed topographic analysis.
Includes perishable data captured 1-2 months after the 2020 fires, providing immediate post-event snapshots.
Covers multiple significant fire events (2017 Eagle Creek, 2020 Holiday Farm, 2020 Archie Creek) across western Oregon.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count and file formats are unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
Data freshness should be verified as the last metadata update was 2025-02-10.
