Eighteen machine learning and geostatistical methods were evaluated for predicting seabed mud content across three regions of the Australian Exclusive Economic Zone. The study, produced by the Australian Ocean Data Network, compared methods like Random Forest combined with Ordinary Kriging (RFOK) and Inverse Distance Squared (RFIDS). It was published in 2024, building on foundational work from 2008.
Primary data access appears to be through documentation (PDF, HTML) rather than a clean, feature-level dataset; actual mud content measurements and model predictions may not be provided in a standard data file.
