Australia's east coast from the New South Wales-Victoria border to the southern boundary of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park is the focus of this preliminary geological assessment. The report, provided by the Australian Ocean Data Network, evaluates the petroleum potential of a region with sparse exploration history. It covers known basins like the Sydney and Maryborough Basins, as well as other sedimentary sequences and rift-related features.
Petroleum exploration is prohibited within the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park, and no assessment of that area is included.
