Australia's east coast north of Bass Strait has been very sparsely explored for petroleum. This report from the Australian Ocean Data Network provides a preliminary assessment of the petroleum potential from the New South Wales-Victoria border to the southern boundary of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park, excluding the protected area. The assessment covers at least four known sedimentary basins and possible graben features associated with Tasman Sea rifting.
