Description
Fieldwork in the northwest corner of Pool Creek map area (NTS 95C/5) during the summer of 2000 distinguished North and South areas with distinct stratigraphies and deformation histories. The Government of Yukon produced this report, which includes stratigraphic thicknesses, rock unit descriptions, and correlations. The data was last updated on April 17, 2026.
Use Cases
Analyze stratigraphic thickness and unit composition based on the described 1100 m and 1800 m thick sequences
Model deformation patterns based on descriptions of broad folds and tight overturned folds
Assess mineral prospectivity for U-Th-REE and sedimentary-exhalative targets based on reported associations
Correlate shale units with regional geological groups like Road River and Earn groups
Strengths
Fieldwork conducted in summer 2000 provides a specific temporal anchor for observations
Stratigraphic thicknesses are quantified: South area 1100 m in three units, North area 1800 m in seven units
Specific rock types and deformation styles are described, including carbonates, sandstones, siltstones, shales, and fold geometries
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment
The age of some units is uncertain, noted as 'Proterozoic?' and 'Eocene (?)'
Provenance
Source
Government of Yukon
Collection Method
Fieldwork conducted during summer 2000
Time Range
Summer 2000 fieldwork, with geological ages ranging from Ordovician to Mississippian and possibly Proterozoic and Eocene
