Data from 50 sonobuoys were recorded over the Capel and Faust Basins, 800 km east of Australia, during a 2006 seismic survey for Geoscience Australia's Big New Oil programme. The data were interpreted and forward modelled by ray-tracing to estimate P-wave velocities in the upper sedimentary section and constrain sediment thickness. Gravity and magnetic anomaly data were also recorded to provide additional constraints for velocity models.
