Description
GC-MS characterisation results for products from reductive rejuvenation tests on degraded amine sorbents used in carbon capture. The dataset includes results for one industrial MEA solvent, one solid-supported polyethyleneimine sample, and six model MEA degradation compounds, using catalytic hydrogenation, hydrous pyrolysis, and hydropyrolysis with platinum, nickel, and molybdenum catalysts. Preliminary CO2 absorption test results for a degraded MEA solvent before and after rejuvenation are also included, produced by the British Geological Survey under UKCCSRC Call 2 funding.
Use Cases
Comparing rejuvenation method efficacy based on GC-MS characterisation results for degraded solvents.
Analyzing catalyst performance (platinum, nickel, molybdenum) in reductive approaches like catalytic hydrogenation.
Evaluating CO2 absorption capacity changes before and after hydrous pyrolysis rejuvenation.
Studying the chemical profiles of specific model degradation compounds like 1-(2-Hydroxyethyl)-2-imidazolidinone.
Strengths
Data covers multiple reductive rejuvenation methods: catalytic hydrogenation, hydrous pyrolysis, and hydropyrolysis.
Includes results for eight distinct sample types: one industrial MEA, one solid-supported polyethyleneimine, and six model compounds.
Contains preliminary performance data linking chemical characterisation to functional CO2 absorption tests.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
Description metadata is limited; actual data quality requires manual inspection after download.
