Description
Profiles of temperature, salinity, and other measurements were received from the Japan Oceanographic Data Center as a submission to the WDC Silver Spring. The data were observed by multiple Japanese research institutes from 1995 to 2008, using CTD, XBT, and bottle samplers. It includes corrected data from a previous submission, stored in a dedicated 'updates' folder.
Use Cases
Analyzing vertical ocean structure based on temperature and salinity profiles.
Studying temporal changes in oceanographic conditions from 1995 to 2008.
Validating ocean models using in-situ CTD and XBT measurement data.
Researching regional oceanography based on data from specific contributing institutes like JAMSTEC and Tohoku University.
Strengths
Data originates from multiple authoritative Japanese research institutes, including JAMSTEC and National Fisheries University.
Includes corrected data from a previous submission, indicating quality control efforts.
Covers a temporal range from 1935 to 2008, with specific institute data spanning 1995-2008.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Last updated 2008-12-31 00:00:00; freshness should be verified.
Row count and file size are unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
