A methods project investigating the relationship between progression-free survival (PFS) and patient psychological well-being or quality of life (QOL). The work involved systematic literature searches in MEDLINE, PubMed, Embase, and CENTRAL for studies from 2005 to 2010 on drugs approved based on PFS outcomes. No direct evidence was found linking knowledge of PFS to psychological well-being, but four studies were identified examining the association between PFS and QOL or disease symptoms.
