Field study and simulation data analyzing the relationship between vegetation cover and air temperature in Curitiba, Brazil. The research, authored by Flávia Cristina Osaku Minella, proposes a vegetation fraction index and quantifies its cooling effect. Results suggest a 70% increase in vegetated fraction is needed to offset a 1°C rise in mean ambient temperature in the studied areas.
