Description
Antarctic and Southern Ocean data was collected during leg LMG0108A of the R/V Laurence M. Gould icebreaker, which operates for the U.S. Antarctic Program. The dataset consists of underway measurements supporting global change studies in biological, chemical, physical, and oceanographic disciplines. The voyage started and ended in Punta Arenas, Chile, and the data was last updated in October 2001.
Use Cases
Analyzing physical oceanographic conditions in the Southern Ocean based on underway measurements.
Studying biological and chemical indicators of global change in Antarctic waters.
Correlating environmental data from a specific research cruise leg (LMG0108A) with other Antarctic datasets.
Modeling icebreaker operational patterns and their associated environmental sampling.
Strengths
Data originates from a dedicated NSF-supported research icebreaker, the R/V Laurence M. Gould.
Supports multidisciplinary global change studies across biological, chemical, physical, and oceanographic fields.
Provides a specific temporal snapshot from a defined research voyage leg (LMG0108A).
