Description
The R/V Laurence M. Gould LMG0201B dataset contains underway data collected during a research cruise for the U.S. Antarctic Program. The NSF-supported icebreaker conducted global change studies in biological, chemical, physical, and oceanographic disciplines. The leg started and ended in Punta Arenas, Chile, and the data was last updated in March 2002.
Use Cases
Analyzing physical oceanographic conditions in Antarctic waters based on underway data.
Studying chemical properties for global change research as mentioned in the description.
Investigating biological patterns in polar marine ecosystems from cruise-collected data.
Correlating underway measurements with other Antarctic climate datasets.
Strengths
Data originates from the NSF-supported research icebreaker R/V Laurence M. Gould, a dedicated platform for Antarctic science.
Covers multiple disciplines for global change studies: biological, chemical, physical, and oceanographic.
Specific cruise leg (LMG0201B) with known start and end points (Punta Arenas, Chile).
