Description
Underway data was collected during leg LMG0308 of the NSF-supported research icebreaker R/V Laurence M. Gould. The cruise operated in support of the U.S. Antarctic Program, conducting global change studies in biological, chemical, physical, and oceanographic disciplines. The leg started and ended at Punta Arenas, Chile, and the dataset was last updated in November 2003.
Use Cases
Analyze physical oceanographic conditions along the Antarctic Peninsula based on underway measurements.
Study temporal changes in marine biological or chemical parameters during the research cruise.
Model ship-track environmental data for climate change studies in polar regions.
Correlate underway data with other Antarctic research datasets for multi-disciplinary analysis.
Strengths
Data originates from a dedicated NSF-supported research icebreaker, suggesting a controlled collection environment.
