Description
Underway data was collected during leg LMG0605 of the NSF-supported research icebreaker R/V Laurence M. Gould. The cruise operated in support of the U.S. Antarctic Program, conducting global change studies in biological, chemical, physical, and oceanographic disciplines. The leg started and ended at Punta Arenas, Chile, and the dataset was last updated in June 2006.
Use Cases
Modeling planktonic larval dispersal patterns based on the cruise's oceanographic data.
Studying the biogeography of Antarctic benthic invertebrates based on the research focus.
Analyzing physical and chemical oceanographic conditions for global change studies.
Correlating underway sensor data with biological observations from the research cruise.
Strengths
Data originates from a dedicated NSF-supported research icebreaker, the R/V Laurence M. Gould.
The cruise had a specific scientific focus on plankton dispersal and Antarctic benthic invertebrates.
