Description
Underway data was collected during leg LMG0608 of the NSF-supported research icebreaker R/V Laurence M. Gould. The leg operated in support of the U.S. Antarctic Program, starting and ending in Punta Arenas, Chile. Data collection supports global change studies in biological, chemical, physical, and oceanographic disciplines.
Use Cases
Analyze physical oceanographic conditions during Antarctic transit based on underway data mentioned in the description
Study biological and chemical properties of Antarctic waters based on the described global change studies
Model ship-based transit routes and environmental conditions for the U.S. Antarctic Program
Correlate underway measurements with other Antarctic research datasets from the same time period
Strengths
Data originates from a dedicated NSF-supported research icebreaker, the R/V Laurence M. Gould
Supports multidisciplinary global change studies across biological, chemical, physical, and oceanographic fields
