Description
2006 data collected during the LMG0611B research leg of the R/V Laurence M. Gould. The dataset consists of underway measurements from a cruise starting and ending in Punta Arenas, Chile, in support of the U.S. Antarctic Program. It was gathered by the organization SCIOPS for global change studies in biological, chemical, physical, and oceanographic disciplines.
Use Cases
Analyzing temporal patterns in oceanographic conditions based on underway data collection.
Studying biological and chemical changes in Antarctic waters mentioned in the description.
Correlating physical oceanographic measurements with climate change indicators.
Modeling ship-track based environmental data for the Antarctic Peninsula region.
Strengths
Data originates from a dedicated NSF-supported research icebreaker, suggesting a controlled collection environment.
Covers multiple scientific disciplines (biological, chemical, physical, oceanographic) as stated in the description.
Limitations
Last updated 2006-11-08; freshness should be verified.
Description metadata is limited; actual data quality requires manual inspection after download.
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
