Description
R/V Laurence M. Gould, a U.S. Antarctic Program icebreaker, collected this underway data during leg LMG0715 in 2007. The voyage started and ended in Punta Arenas, Chile, supporting global change studies in biological, chemical, physical, and oceanographic disciplines. The dataset is hosted by NASA's Earthdata platform and was last updated on November 16, 2007.
Use Cases
Analyzing marine environmental conditions based on the described biological, chemical, and physical oceanographic data.
Studying vessel track and operational patterns from the underway data collected during the Antarctic voyage.
Investigating temporal changes in specific oceanographic parameters mentioned in the description.
Correlating in-situ measurements from the icebreaker with satellite or other remote sensing data for the region.
Strengths
Data originates from a dedicated NSF-supported research icebreaker operated for the U.S. Antarctic Program.
Covers multiple scientific disciplines as stated: biological, chemical, physical, and oceanographic.
