Description
2008 data collected by the NSF-supported R/V Laurence M. Gould icebreaker during leg LMG0811. The dataset consists of underway measurements from a round-trip voyage between Punta Arenas, Chile, and Palmer Station, supporting global change studies in biological, chemical, physical, and oceanographic disciplines. The data is provided by SCIOPS.
Use Cases
Analyzing oceanographic conditions along the Antarctic Peninsula based on underway measurements.
Studying temporal changes in marine biological or chemical properties during an icebreaker transit.
Correlating physical ocean data with other Antarctic environmental records from the same period.
Modeling ship-based observation routes and data collection patterns for polar research.
Strengths
Data originates from a dedicated NSF-supported research icebreaker, suggesting authoritative collection.
Covers a specific, documented voyage leg (LMG0811) with a known start and end point.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
