Description
The R/V Laurence M. Gould LMG0907 dataset contains underway data collected by the NSF-supported research icebreaker during a leg of its Antarctic operations. The leg started and ended in Punta Arenas, Chile, supporting global change studies in biological, chemical, physical, and oceanographic disciplines. The dataset was last updated on July 18, 2009.
Use Cases
Analyze temporal patterns in oceanographic conditions based on the continuous underway data collection.
Study biogeochemical cycles in Antarctic waters based on the described chemical and biological discipline focus.
Model physical oceanographic processes in the Southern Ocean based on the described physical discipline focus.
Correlate ship-track observations with satellite data based on the geospatial nature of underway data.
Strengths
Data originates from a dedicated NSF-supported research icebreaker, indicating institutional credibility.
