Description
The 2010 dataset LMG1010 contains underway data collected by the NSF-supported research icebreaker R/V Laurence M. Gould during a leg starting and ending in Punta Arenas, Chile. It supports global change studies in biological, chemical, physical, and oceanographic disciplines for the U.S. Antarctic Program. The data was last updated on December 20, 2010.
Use Cases
Analyzing temporal patterns of oceanographic conditions based on underway sensor data.
Studying biological and chemical changes in Antarctic marine ecosystems based on the described disciplinary scope.
Modeling physical oceanographic processes in the Southern Ocean based on the vessel's operational data.
Correlating ship-track environmental measurements with satellite or other observational data.
Strengths
Data originates from a dedicated NSF-supported research icebreaker, suggesting institutional quality control.
