Description
NSF-supported research icebreaker R/V Laurence M. Gould collected this underway data set during leg LMG1201. The leg started at Palmer Station and ended at Punta Arenas, Chile, supporting global change studies in biological, chemical, physical, and oceanographic disciplines. The dataset was last updated on February 7, 2012.
Use Cases
Analyzing oceanographic conditions along the Antarctic Peninsula based on the described underway data collection.
Studying temporal changes in marine properties during a research cruise based on the time-series nature of the data.
Modeling physical and chemical oceanographic processes in polar regions based on the described disciplinary scope.
Correlating biological observations with environmental data from the described multidisciplinary global change studies.
Strengths
Data originates from the NSF-supported research icebreaker R/V Laurence M. Gould, a dedicated platform for Antarctic science.
Supports multidisciplinary global change studies across biological, chemical, physical, and oceanographic disciplines.
Limitations
Description metadata is limited; actual data quality requires manual inspection after download.
