Description
Underway data was collected during leg LMG1202 of the NSF-supported research icebreaker R/V Laurence M. Gould. The leg started and ended in Punta Arenas, Chile, supporting global change studies in biological, chemical, physical, and oceanographic disciplines. The dataset was last updated by SCIOPS on March 12, 2012.
Use Cases
Analyzing temporal environmental changes in Antarctic waters based on the underway data collection.
Modeling oceanographic conditions along the vessel's route between Punta Arenas and the Antarctic.
Correlating biological and chemical measurements for global change studies mentioned in the description.
Studying physical properties of the Southern Ocean from continuous ship-based observations.
Strengths
Data originates from a dedicated NSF-supported Antarctic research vessel.
Covers multidisciplinary global change studies in biological, chemical, physical, and oceanographic fields.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
