Description
Antarctic region data collected during the LMG1211 leg of the R/V Laurence M. Gould icebreaker, which operates year-round for the U.S. Antarctic Program. The dataset contains underway measurements supporting global change studies in biological, chemical, physical, and oceanographic disciplines. The voyage started and ended in Punta Arenas, Chile, and the data was last updated in October 2012.
Use Cases
Analyze temporal changes in oceanographic properties based on underway measurements.
Study biological and chemical patterns in Antarctic waters based on the described global change disciplines.
Correlate physical oceanographic data with other Antarctic research datasets.
Model ship-track environmental data for the specific LMG1211 voyage leg.
Strengths
Data originates from a dedicated NSF-supported research icebreaker, suggesting institutional quality control.
Supports multi-disciplinary global change studies across biological, chemical, physical, and oceanographic fields.
Limitations
Description metadata is limited; actual data quality requires manual inspection after download.
Last updated 2012-10-30 23:59:59.999000; freshness should be verified.
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
