Description
The R/V Laurence M. Gould LMG1301 dataset contains underway data collected by the NSF-supported research icebreaker during a leg in support of the U.S. Antarctic Program. This leg started and ended in Punta Arenas, Chile, and the data supports global change studies in biological, chemical, physical, and oceanographic disciplines. The dataset was last updated in February 2013.
Use Cases
Analyzing temporal patterns in oceanographic conditions based on the time-series nature of underway data.
Modeling biogeochemical cycles in Antarctic waters based on the described chemical and biological discipline focus.
Studying physical oceanographic properties along the cruise track based on the described data collection method.
Correlating biological observations with environmental parameters based on the multidisciplinary research scope.
Strengths
Data originates from a dedicated NSF-supported research icebreaker, indicating a controlled collection environment.
Supports multidisciplinary global change studies across biological, chemical, physical, and oceanographic fields.
