Description
The R/V Laurence M. Gould LMG1304 dataset contains underway data collected by the NSF-supported research icebreaker during a leg of its Antarctic operations. The leg started and ended in Punta Arenas, Chile, supporting global change studies in biological, chemical, physical, and oceanographic disciplines. The dataset was last updated on May 6, 2013.
Use Cases
Analyzing temporal patterns in oceanographic conditions based on underway data.
Studying biological and chemical changes in Antarctic waters based on the described global change studies.
Correlating physical oceanographic data with other Antarctic research datasets.
Modeling ship-track environmental observations for time-series analysis.
Strengths
Data originates from the NSF-supported R/V Laurence M. Gould, a dedicated Antarctic research vessel.
Supports multi-disciplinary global change studies across biological, chemical, physical, and oceanographic fields.
