Description
Underway data was collected during leg LMG1701 of the NSF-supported research icebreaker R/V Laurence M. Gould. The cruise operated in support of the U.S. Antarctic Program, conducting global change studies in biological, chemical, physical, and oceanographic disciplines. The leg started and ended at Punta Arenas, Chile.
Use Cases
Analyze temporal patterns in oceanographic conditions based on underway data collection.
Model physical and chemical ocean properties for global change studies in the Antarctic region.
Correlate biological observations with environmental data from the research cruise.
Study the operational patterns and data collection methods of the R/V Laurence M. Gould icebreaker.
Strengths
Data originates from the NSF-supported R/V Laurence M. Gould, a dedicated Antarctic research vessel.
Supports multidisciplinary global change studies across biological, chemical, physical, and oceanographic disciplines.
Covers a specific, documented research leg (LMG1701) with known start and end points (Punta Arenas, Chile).
