Description
The R/V Laurence M. Gould collected this underway data during leg LMG1712, which sailed from and returned to Punta Arenas, Chile. The dataset supports global change studies in biological, chemical, physical, and oceanographic disciplines for the U.S. Antarctic Program. The National Science Foundation (NSF) supported the research, and the data was last updated on December 20, 2017.
Use Cases
Analyzing temporal patterns in oceanographic conditions based on underway data collection.
Modeling biological or chemical changes in Antarctic waters based on the described global change studies.
Correlating physical oceanographic measurements with other Antarctic environmental datasets.
Studying ship-track based time-series data for the Southern Ocean region.
Strengths
Data originates from the NSF-supported research icebreaker R/V Laurence M. Gould, an authoritative platform.
Supports multi-disciplinary global change studies across biological, chemical, physical, and oceanographic fields.
Specific cruise leg (LMG1712) and route (Punta Arenas to Punta Arenas) are documented.
Limitations
Description metadata is limited; actual data quality requires manual inspection after download.
